Tailormade sessions
These sessions can be tailored to your personal needs. In our modern world, countless individuals are silently battling with heightened stress levels, struggling to organise their day-to-day living, suffering from anxiety and depression, lacking confidence, an outlet for grief or other emotional challenges.
Working with clay as a medium engages many of your senses and allows non-verbal expression of emotions and experiences; the tactility of clay allows you to explore and manipulate texture, shapes and forms allowing for an emotional release and self-discovery.
I endeavour to help you explore this beautiful medium, and help your mind find its calm rhythm.

BIO
Jette Kisendal
Welcome to Kisklay - a cosy, soulful ceramics studio founded by me, Jette, a ceramicist and pottery teacher based in rural Kent. Nestled amongst wildlife and framed by a meandering brook, the Kisklay studio offers a peaceful, creative escape from the everyday.
Kisklay is more than just a studio - it's a space where creativity, calm, and connection come together through clay. I offer bespoke pottery sessions (1:1 or 2:1), tailored to each individual's needs and goals. Whether you're completely new to ceramics or looking to deepen your practice, Kisklay welcomes you.
Rooted in a holistic approach, Kisklay was born from my own personal journey with clay - one that began in the mid-90s during adult education courses, taught by the talented artist sculptor Shelley Wilson. After years focused on family life, my love for clay reignited, and Kisklay emerged as a way to share the joy, grounding, and therapeutic power of working with your hands.
My own ceramics encapsulate a distinct Scandinavian influence, a reflection of my Danish roots and appreciation for minimalist, nature-inspired forms. All my pottery is handcrafted and glazed by me. I also make bespoke ceramics, whether it’s functional ware or decorative, I will endeavour to make your creation to your expectations. For example, I have made a sympathetic restoration to a damaged/cracked sentimental piece, making a ‘lost lid’ of a precious pot, recreating this with compassion to harmonise with the existing piece.
Alongside studio teaching and creating my own ceramics, I also run successful after-school pottery clubs at different primary schools within Kent where children are able to tap into their creativity using clay, it calms and focuses even the busiest minds.
I also facilitate small hand building sessions externally for groups up to 15 attendees, dependent upon facilities. At Kisklay, it's not just about making pottery - it's about creating space to slow down, explore, and reconnect. I believe in the restorative power of creativity, and invite you to experience the grounding, mediative rhythm of working with clay.

APPROACH
How I work
For me, clay is a form of therapy. The slow, tactile process helps calm my mind, ease anxiety, and bring me into the present. It offers a safe space to express emotion, rebuild confidence, and simply let go. Whether you're living with PTSD, depression, SEN, or just need a creative release, working with clay can be deeply grounding and healing.
- Art therapy is not on the finished product, but rather the process of creating.
